Today, our ASTRA volunteering club brought the joy of reading to Brookwood Elementary, handing out a free book to every student in the building. Last week, they did the same at Bridgeport, continuing a multi-year effort to reach all local elementary schools. So far, ASTRA has visited six schools, with hopes to serve the remaining two next year.
This inspiring program—made possible through the support of Altrusa International and Reading is Fundamental—puts books directly into the hands of young learners, encouraging a lifelong love of reading. Each visit is a chance to share, connect, and make a lasting impact.
We’re incredibly proud of our students for their commitment to literacy, service, and community. Their efforts are planting the seeds of curiosity and learning in every book they give.
