Big Blue Family!
My name is Ty Smallwood, and I am your Principal of the Hamilton High School Main Campus. It is my honor to continue to serve the Hamilton City Schools in this role. As a lifelong Hamiltonian, I can personally attest to the power of a Hamilton education to create a better future for our children. We would like to formally welcome you and your student to Hamilton High School - home of THE Big Blue, where tradition drives our purpose and pride fuels our future. At Hamilton, we prepare students not just for graduation, but for life. Whether their path leads to college, a career, or military service, we are committed to ensuring every student has the tools, confidence, and support to succeed. That commitment is reflected in our classrooms, our culture, and the powerful relationships that shape every step of the journey.
This year, we’re proud to begin laying the foundation for something bold: Big Blue Ignite! This initiative represents our vision for a more personalized and purposeful student experience—one that connects learning to life beyond high school. Through academic rigor, hands-on learning, and meaningful mentorship, the Hamilton Big Blueprint will guide students in discovering their strengths, exploring career fields, and mapping out their futures with intention.
We’re also expanding the success of our dynamic house system from the Freshman Campus to the rest of the high school. This system fosters smaller learning communities within our large school, creating tighter connections, stronger support networks, and a deeper sense of belonging. At Hamilton, no student should feel lost in the crowd - we’re building a culture where every voice matters and every dream is within reach.
Big Blue pride runs deep in this city, and Hamilton High is at the heart of it. Our students are scholars, athletes, artists, and leaders - and they represent the strength and spirit of our entire community. As principal, I’m honored to walk alongside them as we shape a future rooted in pride, purpose, and possibility.
